All 3400 series control products use the same hardware modules. Each 3400 series product also uses the same PC software (SuperView) and embedded software in the 3400 unit itself.
Pre-configured means that they each come with a factory generated configuration. This configuration can be downloaded from SuperView into any 3400 series controller. The configuration sets default settings in the 3400, such as number of control loops, sensor types and ranges, output types and ranges, recipe templates, internal signal patching/ routing, etc. that are appropriate as a starting point for that particular application.
Any of the factory assignments in the configuration can be changed and saved by the user with SuperView. The pre-configured units are a method by which the factory has saved the user time by choosing appropriate default configuration values.
